Holiday Design at Stacy K Floral | Rochester NY Photographer

So yeah.  I love taking photographs.  I guess that’s a good thing right?  Riiiiighht.  It means I get geeked out over almost every photo situation I’m in.  Like today.  Today I got to travel around with Stacy K of Stacy K Floral and photograph some SUPER COOL holiday designs she worked out for some smart people and businesses in Rochester NY (shameless keyword insertion ::grin::).

So.  So much fun.  Stacy is a really creative and talented florist and person-in-general.  She and I share the blessing and burden of a billion ideas running through our heads ALL the time.  It’s great.  And exhausting.

Stacy custom designs holiday environments and I am so very impressed with her work.  If you live in Rochester and want something truly unique and GORGEOUS — www.stacykfloral.com.  Go GIRL!

Sleet. But the Light was GORGEOUS. |Rochester NY Wedding Photographer

Stacy and her fiance Ozgur were amazing today. (Some of you will know her as the infamous Stacy from Stacy K Floral — and if you are looking for a florist…seriously.  Her work is GORGEOUS.  More about that later.)

I’m sure these two are amazing every day — but today was even more so — and here’s why…

It started out pretty good today.  Cloudy, soft light, not that cold.  Then…almost IMMEDIATELY upon arriving at our location — it started raining…then sleeting…and it got colder…it became basically the worst shooting situation you can imagine.

But…we still played a little bit. And just when I thought we would quit…somehow we kept going.   And it was so much fun (at least for ME ::grin::)!  And I love an inordinate amount of images from this session.  We are shooting again next week (stay tuned) — but for now — here is Stacy and Ozgur’s sneak peek.  Can you believe these two were taken on the same day?!

WIN.

Awww. I look cute! |Rochester NY Photographer

So my friend Gwyn is up from New England.  And she insisted on photographing me today — and I grumpily agreed.

Remind me to be more understanding to everyone I’m photographing would ya?  Because I had a harrowing experience.  I didn’t know what to do…where to stand…how to look.  And I totally get why people are relieved when I direct them in how I want them to pose.

But…the also good news is that — I love a whole bunch of the pictures.  Not EVERY one — because I makes some WEIRD faces…but a LOT of them.

Like this one.  Which I want to use for my branding now.  Cuz I lurve it.

Thanks Gwyn.  xoxo

Clarinet Player Meets GQ | Rochester NY Musician Photographer

So yeah.  This is the time of year when I photograph a lot of musicians.  Typically instrumentalists, but I have also photographed bands, groups, opera singers, you name it…I’ve probably photographed it.  ::grin::

Ran plays the clarinet.  And photographs like he belongs on the cover of GQ Magazine.  I think he doubted whether or not the images we (my friend Gwyn is up from New England and shot with me today.  Fun!) took were going to turn out okay…it’s hard when your photographer(s) ask you to do strange things without really seeing how cool they look — so that’s understandable.  :)

However, after seeing this sneak peek — all doubts should vanish.  They are stunning.  I am posting one image that I took and one image that Gwyn took (and yes, you have to guess.  hint:  I suggested “superhero”) …just to show you the variety and coolness we ended up getting.

Sometimes two photographers (and this goes for photographing weddings as well) egg each other on in terms of creativity and idea development — so you get a more interesting, varied and richer product.

I had fun today — I hope Ran did too!

Um yeah.  Personality?  Check.  Adorable?  Check. Knock me over with enthusiasm?  Check.

Piano Players are Cool | Rochester NY Musician Photographer

So.  Ms. Dhivya was the coolest person to photograph.  I wish I could share her emails — they are hilarious!  She has the greatest sense of humor and was just so much fun to work with.  She even let me do some night shooting on one of the coldest nights known to man!  :)

We squished ourselves into a tiny practise piano room for photographs — a Tammy challenge!  ::grin::

Seriously — we have some AMAZING photographs that I cannot wait to share.

Here’s one of my early favorites:

Katie Katie Katie |Rochester NY Musician and Band Photographer

Do you know this?  Katie has been saving since the JUNIOR HIGH to buy her own Bass.  And she did.  And I think that is AMAZING.  She told me that buying your own bass is like Harry Potter picking out his wand.  How cool is that?  I wonder if her bass chose her as much as she chose her bass.

We ROCKED out this session.  It was so much fun — Katie has the kind of personality that absolutely SHINES out of the images.  These are going to be so much fun to edit!

Katie — here’s your sneak peek!

Jessica and Ashley

You might remember Jessica and Ashley from their super cool engagement session I did last February.  They got married in a lovely ceremony this fall — and I had so much fun photographing their wedding!

Click either image to see a slideshow from their day.  Ash and Jess — Congratulations!!

Excuse the Dust!

I’m going through some growing pains and putting together some new stuff for you to see and a NEW WEDDING WEBSITE — WOO HOO!  (who says woo hoo anymore, am I the only one?!)

If you haven’t seen it yet — my half done site lives at www.tammyswales.com.

Stop over and let me know what you think…love it?  hate it?  want to marry it?  ::grin::

More coming!  (um…woo hoo?!)

Just for fun…here’s a couple of pics I took last night in my new studio.  Yeah!

Fall + Shoes = a GREAT combination!
